I’m so excited! This Friday (December 3rd) is the annual tree lighting and arrival of Santa in downtown Acworth. I have never gotten to attend a tree lighting before and I’m so thrilled to be able to share this experience with my girls. This is the first year where they actually understand what Christmas is all about and can really enjoy all of the festivities.
We’re already past a lot of the local tree lightings, but there are definitely still lots of events going on all over the Metro Atlanta area this time of year. Here are a few to keep in mind when planning your weekend:
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Kid’s Christmas Concert – December 5th – 12th
Jere Flint conducts this annual Christmas present for the entire family. The Youth Orchestra performs seasonal favorites, and Lee Harper & Dancers and special guests add visual sparkle. Click here to buy tickets ($15-$22).
Christmas with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra – December 9th – 10th

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeed at the Center for Puppetry Arts – All Month Long
You won’t want to miss Artistic Director Jon Ludwig’s faithful adaptation of this wonderful holiday tradition that speaks to the misfit in all of us. Dickens of a Christmas – December 10th – 11th
Enjoy Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol presented as a tour through the Southern Museum. Scenes of the play will be acted out in vignettes. Don’t miss Fezziwig’s party in the Glover Factory or the festive finale! The Museum will be closed during regular hours on these days. Holiday treats will be given to all who attend! $7.50 for adults, $5.50 for ages 4-12 and Free for children 3 and under.
